A quick fun fact about The Sisters of Mercy’s logo: Know it’s guaranteed fresh by looking for the head star! The famous head star symbol was ripped off from a drawing in Gray’s Anatomy. The giant-ass, old medical textbook found in the basement of old hospitals and medical schools, not the lame TV drama. Turns out the drawing was depicting proper autopsy procedures. Those triangles and lines on the head? They’re arrows pointing out the direction for skin to be peeled and paths in which incisions should be made. The Sisters chose that logo because like it, they wanted to get inside your head. Oh, Eldritch, you clever bastard.

Dead Can Dance - Ullyses (1988)

In former days
The masks were raised
When the god came down from off the mountain,
And a sacrifice was made
For they knew the day of wrath
Was fast approaching.
